2012 – Four men in arms attack Denis Mukengere Mukwege’s residence and hold his daughters hostages while waiting. Upon Dr Mukwege’s return, they try to kill him but his guard intervenes and is shot dead in his stand.

2014 – Between 100 and 200 people have drowned following the heavy rains in Bushushu, Kalehe district, South Kivu
